Anya works in the front of house manager at Chez Christophe Patisserie in White Rock, BC. She's been a proud member of our team since 2023.
Where are you from?
I’m from Saskatoon. I moved here and started working at Chez Christophe in October 2023.
When did you know you wanted to work in the pastry and café world? Why?
I’ve worked in cafes and customer service since I graduated high school. I didn’t really plan on going into hospitality long-term, but over the years I’ve learned that there’s so much about this industry and specifically about working in a café environment that I really enjoy.
I’ve always been an extrovert, and I’ve learned a lot about the kind of work that goes into leadership as well as how to navigate all the different interpersonal dynamics that come up between customers and baristas. Most of my coffee knowledge I’ve learned on the job through various work-provided coffee training programs.
What do you do in your free time?
I’ve always enjoyed baking as a hobby, so having the opportunity to work at a place like Chez Christophe has been very cool for that reason as well.
Outside of work, I have a handful of crafty hobbies that I dabble in, crochet and pottery being the top ones, and I’ll take just about any opportunity to spend time with friends or be down by the ocean.
